On November 18, 2009, Gerry Cauley resigned as CEO of SERC Reliability Corporation and announced he was accepting the position of CEO and President of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (“NERC”).  NERC made its official announcement that the board of trustees unanimously appointed Cauley as head of NERC on November 19.  Cauley will begin serving as NERC’s CEO on January 1, 2010.

 Prior to joining SERC as its CEO in 2007, Cauley served for ten years in various NERC positions, including VP and Director of Standards.  Cauley graduated from West Point and  served for five years in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers.  Cauley has also attained an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Maryland and an M.B.A. from Loyola College.
