On Tuesday, May 31, 2011, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (“FERC” or the “Commission”) headquarters in Washington DC experienced an outage after a reported failure of two underground transmission cables. FERC’s systems, including online services, were shut down, and personnel were placed on administrative leave. Emergency employees asked to report to work on Wednesday June 1, 2011 and Thursday June 2, 2011. FERC’s website reported that power was temporarily restored at the FERC headquarters on Wednesday at 9pm, but lost again at 11pm. According to FERC’s website, power was restored to FERC headquarters at 7:36pm on June 2, 2011, and buildings re-opened Friday, June 3, 2011.
Any filing due on May 31, 2011, June 1 or 2, 2011 will be considered timely when submitted on the next business day FERC is open.
