On Thursday May 1, 2014, President Barrack Obama announced his plan to nominate Acting Chairman Cheryl LaFleur to another term as a FERC Commissioner.

LaFleur first was appointed a FERC commissioner by President Obama in 2010.  See March 12 2010 edition of the WER.  Her current term is slated to end in June of this year.  She was named acting chairwoman in 2013, after Jon Wellinghoff stepped down.  See November 22, 2013 edition of the WER.  Currently Norman Bay is pending confirmation for the Commission, and upon his appointment President Obama will designate Mr. Bay as the Chairman.  See February 3, 2013 edition of the WER.

In response to the nomination, LaFleur released a statement explaining that she was honored to be nominated for a second term at FERC.  “If confirmed, I look forward to continuing to work with the wonderful team at FERC on the important energy issues facing our nation.  I would like to thank President Obama for nominating me, and look forward to working with the Senate as they consider my nomination.”
